5 out of 5 Truly a great board.. Up there with all the top performers!

This is a great board. I have had the Boosted 2 Dual Plus which I sold. I then bought the Evolve Bamboo GT All-terrain and I got this board to have something more compact and easier to keep with me more often. I love the Evolve but it is HUGE. The S2 is really a great board. It is plenty fast, has a good range, and is a great size. It is not as light as a naked board but what do you expect, it has a lot of batteries in there. I am very happy.

5 out of 5 Love it

I’ve never had an e-board before, though I’ve used many different long boards over the years. I have to say, this thing is amazing. Hoverboard, flying, carving, surfing etc. all the analogies are spot on – I never knew it would be so fun to carve while going 18mph up a hill, but the defying gravity bit is a rush. It’s strange, but the ability to brake so effectively gives me a lot more confidence in full-bore bombing down big hills, even in places with lots of cars. The stiffness, wheel-size, and construction of the deck has helped ride through cracks/bumps/obstacles that I fully expected to throw me. It’s fast, it’s fun, it’s super practical for transportation. Kick-turning is the one thing that’s fairly difficult to do on this board, but I suspect it’s more to do with the length and weight of the board than the tail size as others have speculated. I find the tail a great size for pegging my foot to help with acceleration (you can wheelie… woo hoo). Anyway, I love it – you should buy one.

I have to tell you I’m exceptionally pleased with both boards. Waiting for them was not fun, however now that I have both boards I’m really happy with them. I’ve ridden many e boards and these are a blast. The S is great for running errands in NYC, LIGHT QUICK AND SNAPPY.

5 out of 5 BLINK s2 is so amazing...

This board continues to amaze me because of how fast it is AND the fact that it has up to a 14 mile range makes it even better. I’ve never had to worry about running out of battery during the day!

5 out of 5 Head turner and sweet board

Loving my Blink S and S2! These boards not only look fantastic, but ride like a dream as well. Super smooth and powerful – I’m 200lbs and these boards both move me all over town as advertised! You won’t be able to go to far before people start noticing and asking questions. Highly recommended!

4 out of 5 Well Executed Acton!

I purchased my S2 via the Indiegogo campaign and after quite a long wait I’m really happy with how the board ended up. To give you guys some background on myself, I’m a skater of 15+ years experience (street skating and downhill long-boarding) and the S2 is the first E-Board I’ve owned, but not the first I’ve ridden.

I’ll start with the construction of the board. I was delighted to find that it was extremely well made, I’m very happy with how sturdy and solid everything feels. I do have a little teensy bit of anxiety around the motor mounts but they’ve taken the first thirty or so miles like a champ so far. The maple bamboo hybrid deck is sturdy and stiff, it gives you a sense of security and stability while going fast but it can make the ride a little harsh when riding on rough pavement – luckily Acton was thoughtful enough to put some shock pads between the board and the trucks, a nice detail. The board feels planted at speed and turns like its on rails. The wheels could benefit from a softer urethane formula but they grip well and the size is so big that most things that would cause you to hang up (rocks, cracks) just melt away. One place I really think Acton can drastically improve is the tail of the board. Hitting the throttle really makes the board pull hard (which I love) and having additional tail space with a scoop to lock your foot in would be greatly appreciated (also would be helpful for kick turning). A nose scoop would be welcomed addition to help lock you in under heavy braking. Something I found odd is that one of the instructions out of the box was to do a once over of all the screws and bolts to make sure everything is tightened down… they did not however include a skate tool / tool set. You’ll need the classic skate wrenches and a phillips as always but one gotcha is that you’ll need a torx screwdriver for the motor mounts (next time swap the free backpack for a free tool set Acton).

Moving on to how it rides, I’m beyond pleased – feels like you’re flying. The hub motors really make all the difference. Being able to push / coast naturally is epic and sets this board apart from its belt driven competitors. I hit the advertised 18mph top speed no problem (note: this is in ‘pro mode’ and I weigh in at 180 lbs) however I do seem to be falling short of the advertised 14mi range. I get about 8-9 miles but I think this is because I’ve got the throttle pinned almost the entire ride. On that note the 18mph feels fast but once you get comfortable you definitely get thirsty for more! I’m hoping Acton can achieve more speed with a software / firmware update.

Now about the lights… I honestly wasn’t sure how I felt about these during the campaign. I was very pleasantly surprised by how much light this thing churns out. It’s a little bit attention drawing but it definitely makes you feel safer about being in the bike lane after dark, so thanks Acton greatly for that. It would be nice to have a hardware switch on the board for the lights, which something you can only do via the app for now.

Speaking of the app (iOS in my case), great job Acton! The Acton App is very functional and easy to use. Adjusting modes is so helpful for when you want give a friend a go. Getting real time board stats is dope and the weekly challenges are fun too! I truly wish the app reported more valuable data on the state of the battery. The app estimates your range, but you have no detail on the voltage of the battery. I’d like to know the actual volts but I’d take a percentage bar. Shoot while I’m asking, maybe both?

As far as the remote goes, I love the soft touch plastic, it feels nice in your hand. The throttle / brake switch itself could feel more sturdy but it reminds me of an N64 Joystick and those are still snapping back to center for me so who knows.

Another nice surprise was getting two chargers in the box, I leave one at work and one at my house and I now commute 16 miles with my board daily.

In conclusion, thanks Acton! I’m really glad I backed you guys during the campaign and waited out the delays. I’m excited to see what you guys come up with going forward, and I’m very seriously considering buying a Qu4tro!

5 out of 5 Fantastic experience, even for a noob

I purchased this from the Indigogo campaign and absolutely love it. I’m extremely new to skateboarding, much less electric skateboarding. I spent about 20 minutes riding around my garage, large apartment building, then moved up to normal and cruised the neighborhood.

I am surrounded by hills, pretty steep ones at that. Weighing 200lbs and cruising uphill is a welcomed surprise. Going downhill the brakes both slow down and maintain speed depending on how much pressure I apply to the controls. I was blown away with how well the brakes work. They apply smooth and definitely stop me quickly.
The remote is extremely comfortable and works really well. My only critique is that the range is very short. The board got away from me once, again… super new boarder, and it accelerated off after it got about 10 yards away. This was kinda concerning that it didn’t just coast. Luckily a friend was in front of me and snagged it before it could crash into anything. I’d prefer it to just cut off instead.
When i got the board i had to tighten up most of the screws and tightened the trucks because the board got a bit wobbly at higher speeds.
All said, they board is awesome. It’s great for a beginner if you progressively work up to speed. It rolls over large cracks, sewer covers, and spits rocks without snagging on them. The ability to control speed and confidently slow/stop culminates in a really nice ride.
I ride in a city with a TON of traffic and confident cruising/commuting is critical. Thanks Acton for making an awesome board and I look forward to racking up the miles in the coming months!

    5 out of 5 S2 excellent.

Ran on normal mode 38miles so far. Not ready for Pro mode yet. Normal speed is at 12miles/hr. No problem on steep hills. No need for running start on hills, can climb very steep hills starting from stop. Board too heavy for me but very well built & very solid. The lights are very useful coz i ride at night on the road when there’s less cars & cops. Too many bumps & too noisy on d sidewalk. Wheels can go thru humps & bumps no prob but its too noisy so i prefer to ride on the road. Coz I live on hilly area can’t complain on lesser mileage. Excellent board, thanks Acton really appreciate I got a good deal for being an early backer. Also the backpack is excellent but d board is too big & heavy on d pack straps. Its doable but too big.

5 out of 5 Cruise control for skateboarding 😎

Now, I say cruise control in the title, but don’t let that fool ya. This S2 has power, and if you want to gun it, it’s going to shoot you forward. But when you just need to get from point A to B, this board makes getting around effortless. I have so much fun riding this board around as my last mile vehicle, and I’m constantly looking for excuses to jump on it. The estimated speed, range, and incline capabilities are on point. Sure, this varies from user to user (weight, wind, road conditions, etc), but it has exceeded my expectations, where many other electric boards seem to fall short in their marketing. It has no problem pushing me up parking lot ramps, and has tolerated the 100+ degree temperatures here in Phoenix without any indication of struggle.

The only real drawback of this board is the weight. It’s a chunky carry for sure, but hopefully you didn’t buy this thing to lug around constantly. This board is meant to be ridden. The dual motors are almost silent, the LEDs are a beacon of the future that shines beneath your feet. You get a giddy smile (or EV grin as e-bikers will tell ya), when you glide across the surface with zero effort. This board hits the sweet spot of performance and value, and is a worthy consideration if you are looking for an electric skateboard.

For more, check out my video reviews on youtube.com/thatsginter. I cover more details and have riding videos there as well.

5 out of 5 Snowboarding on Concrete

I have both the S1 and S2. My 11 year old rides the S1 and would always outrun me on hills, my 190lbs are no match for his 85lbs on the S1. Behold the S2, not only does it feel like a more adult board, it’s longer, heavier and all around more robust, but it takes off like a rocket. Riding it is a bit more difficult, you have to shift your body weight quite a bit during the acceleration and breaking in order to stay on the board, once you have that mastered it’s pure “awesomeness”. I race my little guy up the hills now and win hands down, people are scratching their head when they see us, it looks as though we’re gliding/hovering. The S1 lasts quite a bit of time for my little sidekick and his 85lbs but it used to drain quite quickly with my weight, about 30min. The S2 is at 80% charge after 30min riding up and down hills. The board rattles a bit, I have to look at all the screws to make sure all is tight, but that’s the only thing I could point out as something to look into. It’s hands down one of the most fun experiences you can have, it feels like snowboarding on concrete. LOVE IT

Lovely board, surprised at its power and smooth ride.

I bought the board as I have a chronic illness and struggle to walk or cycle even short distances, now i’m able to get around the city. Very liberating!

Only gripes would be not having more of a traditional skateboard tail so as to lift up the front trucks while doing tight turns, and not being able to turn off the side lights.

    Highly recommended

5 out of 5 A great way to commute AND look cool 😎

My BLINK S2 has become my go-to method of commuting in the city and for whenever I need to go a few blocks to get groceries etc. I thought biking was the best way to get around in this urban of an area, but with BLINK S2 I don’t have to worry about theft as much AND it looks much cooler than biking around everywhere XD.

5 out of 5 Awesome range and style

The BLINK S2 is my favorite eboard out of all I have tested so far! I first found out about this board at the ACTON booth at Facebook Summer Fest and loved it so much I ordered one right away…I’ve never had the battery run out on me – it always gets me from point A to B with no hiccups. And when I ride at night I always make sure to have all the lights on because I think that feature is so cool. Thanks ACTON!

5 out of 5 Soo fun

Game changer. I use this to get around NYC and it makes my commutes so much fun. I constantly think of which parts of my trip I can skate instead of take a train or walk. The initial start takes a little time getting used to – need to put more weight on your front leg and angle your back to leg to counter the starting force. The bag works excellent for carrying the board and a lot of other items. The 2 chargers were a very nice touch. My only complaint is the board is heavy, otherwise I love everything about this board and highly recommend it to anyone looking for some fun and an efficient way to travel.

Amazing board, incredibly well built and a blast to ride and let my friends ride too. Its ridiculously fast but the 3 different modes help a lot to learn. Very sturdy and amazing overall, I did wish you could see board percentage without using the app or change rider modes but other than that 10/10 would recommend to a friend.

I haven’t rode on a skateboard before, and it was with much research that I went ahead and purchased this for it’s promise of providing more stability for beginners. And boy must I say that Acton did something so right with the engineering of this board that even a newbie is able to get comfortable and feel confident of riding the board after 2 hours. Kudos to the the team for providing a board that provides the stability, maneuverability and superior built. That on top of it being shipped to me in a short 2 months. Bottomline: best purchase for me in a long time. 🙂

5 out of 5 Amazing Board

I have been looking to get one of these for a while now. Except the prices of most other electric boards has been in the $1,000 – 1,900 range, which is just an insane price to pay for a skateboard with a battery and some motors. Think about that. You can buy a used motorcycle or car for that amount of money! Or even a Brand new off name Chinese Vespa copy scooter. Think about the complexity of a motorcycle and how many parts go into making those machines work…..So….. Paying 1,500 dollars for a skateboard is a rip off (IMO) I understand the technology is new and there needs to be profit and margins for this to be a good business model, which is why prices are probably so high…at least initially anyways. They will come down. Remember how much the first Motorola razor cell phone cost? If you are old enough to know then you understand what I’m saying here.

Here enters Acton into the market late 2016 with their Indiegogo campaign. I took a gamble and placed an order very early, I think in the first 10. I realized it was a risk, but their plan and concept looked solid. Most importantly, the price was very reasonable. Plus, Acton actually had experience bringing products to the market – selling the Rocket Skates and the first blink boards. They were even distributing them to Best Buy. . I’ve been watching the different companies and what they offer, price to value wise for quite some time. Boosted. Way too expensive, range is abysmal. Zboard…Way to gimmicky. A controller is a must for complete, well, control over your board. Inboard and their M1 is impressive but its $1400 and has less range than this board and gets only 7 miles. Evolve…expensive…one wheel….gimmicky, not practical, and expensive. LeifTech Skateboard, super cool idea, but again….expensive!

Soooo…on to the board. I received it on 6/08/17. I am a bit of an extremist when it comes to placing value in quality things and taking care of anything I spend my money on. I do not like to waste money or buy garbage. Needless to say, this board completely met my expectations for quality. There are some areas for improvement, but hey, its a 1st gen. product, so its most likely only going to get better from here on out.

    Quality:

The board is extremely solid. It is heavier than expected, but there is good reason for the weight, and it is mostly unavoidable unless you want a skateboard made out of carbon, aluminum, or plastics. And, honestly, I don’t. I want a board made out of wood and metal. There is just something to be said about the beauty of natural wood grain that you can’t get with a synthetic board. The grip tape is SUPER GRIPPY (is that a word?) Anyways. Very high-quality grip tape. It will keep your feet glued to the board, and it covers the entire top surface. It even cuts my hands when I carry the board. Will take some getting used to.

    Ride:

The wheels and bearings buttery smooth when they roll, the acceleration is firm and enough to throw you off if you are not prepared. The motors are extremely quiet, much quieter than I was expecting. You can only really hear them when you are on very very smooth pavement. Then it just makes this satisfying hum. First ride with this board, I passed a group of people on bicycles (while going up a hill~!@#!) and all I heard them say was: “We just got dusted by a skateboard!” I couldn’t help but bust out laughing. I even had two people sick their heads out of the car window and yell at me how awesome seeing someone ride a skate board that fast was. So……Yeah…..the….Ride…is….awesome!!

If you are used to having a board that flexes, this might take some adjusting. This board is very firm. You will feel every bump, rock, and vibration. There is no flex in this thing. But it is very stable at speed, turns well, and I have yet to have a rock that would freeze the wheel up and throw you into oblivion. (If you’ve skated old-school boards with tiny wheels you know what I’m talking about here, in fact, I think it’s why stopped skateboarding when I was younger…I got thrown to the pavement hard by a pebble no more that 2 mm in diameter and I threw my board away in a pique of rage and never went back) Last night I actually hit a huge rock, almost 4 inches long and 2 wide, this board just punched it aside and kept on going without a hitch, though I did feel a pang of guilt for the underside of the board that might get nicked up. The Battery casing looks to be made of brushed stainless steel. Very nice touch.

    Range:

I have gotten around 13.4 Miles which is pretty darn close to their estimates. Using the Acton APP, The mileage and range estimates given inside the app currently isn’t accurate (it over calculates distance), so I used Google Fit on my Phone, selected the skateboarding activity and tracked the distance that way to verify. So, I am fairly confident in the number. If you love to see how efficient you can make your experience and how far you can go without unnecessary breaking, you can probably go over 14. I haven’t tried it yet, because I like to strike a good balance between aggressive and mellow.
This is an electric vehicle SO if you are the type of person who has a heavy finger and slams on the acceleration only to use the break 10 feet later, not taking advantage of any coasting or planning your speed, you will most likely fall very short of the 14 mile range estimate. This is a very aggressive and inefficient way to ride, SO DON’T COMPLAIN if you ride that way and don’t get 14 miles!

    Lighting:

This is amazing. I really thought this was just a gimmicky selling point, but these things will light you up! Way more powerful than expected. Plus, they are LED, so they use basically zero energy. I don’t feel any need to ever turn them off. LED’s last forever.

    Remote:

Yes, it requires AAA batteries, yes, it is fairly no frills, but hey, it does the job. And I don’t mind the AAA batteries as much as I thought I would. This is an area where you can tell they decided to keep costs down, and I am completely OKAY with it. Remember, its always a balance between quality and price. And I am glad I didn’t shell out $1,500 for those other boards! Looking at you Boosted, Inboard, and Evolve, and Z board, and One wheel, and wait, basically every other player in the game.
I know you must be thinking, wait, the QU4TRO is $1,700 (actually $1,600 after their “discount”, which is one of those “permanent” discounts) Well… the QU4TRO is in a completely different league than those other boards, it has 4 motors, aluminum and carbon fiber, and crazy good range. It is a board for those who like to spare no expense and make no compromises. The only other board that can probably compete is the $2,000 Evolve Carbon GT (still more expensive)

One thing is for certain, for price and quality, ACTON has really raised the bar. Thanks ACTON. Now could I please get some stickers for my Helmet! 🙂

I have a Blink Lite and 2 Blink board with HUB motor and I love these boards ! The Blink board with Hub motor is way better than Belt drive version due to the zero maintanence and quiteness while riding and giving a true longboard feel. Ive ordered a Blink S and an S2. I worked a pretty much a second job and saved up for these boards. If i love the boards i have now , I couldnt imagine the S and S2.

    5 out of 5 Hype!

By far the best board on the market- I am so excited for this! Skateboarding has always been a blast- and now technology is bringing it so much further. Hype!

Unfortunately- I can’t afford this board but still!

    I am so excited!
